chess, white, pawn

There are twenty available opening moves in chess; sixteen with the pawn and four with the knight. Some have favour over the others, but none can guarantee a win or loss. Which do you think is the best opening move for white? What about black? That will obviously depend on white's first move.

I have gone through phases about which opening move I favour. To being with I preferred G1 to F3, then I started liking E2 to E4, but at the moment I quite like to start my turn with A2 to A4. I don't know which, is the best move to make.

If I am black, I sometimes get into the habit of mirroring my opponent's first move.
As white, I love the Queen's Pawn.

As black - totally depends on the first move of white! Although I like the Sicilian and Nimzo-Indian lines.
