Review QuizUp is a great, free trivia app. It has loads of different categories to satisfy trivia buffs in anything from Ancient Greek History, to the Chronicles of Narnia, to logos of your favourite brands. Science, nature, TV, books, history, spelling, maths, you name it, there's a topic for it. And if there isn't, then you can contribute new content on the forums (my only issue with that is the poor proof-reading on some of the topics - there's a few typos).
To keep your interest there's a local, and global, ranking system that resets each month, and if you are the top 10 for where you are playing from opponents will see that. Experience points give you levels, but there are also open and hidden achievements to unlock. These allow you to tag yourself with various different sub-titles (e.g. I'm currently tagged as Wardrobe Traveller due to my progress in Chronicles of Narnia).
You can also use your own photos from Facebook, or keep your profile more anonymous. You can ask the app to source random opponents, or challenge your friends on the app, or ask anyone for a rematch who you have just played.
I've been enjoying the app, there are a good variety of topics, but I have found that when you repeatedly play topics, the same questions pop up again. That's quite handy for winning games, but would be good for variety to have more. I find you build up experience at a reasonable rate, but there are options to buy boosters to rack it up even more quickly, if you are so inclined.
