Tedious waiting for others to have their turn
After the disappointment of Amazing Wheel, does Phrase Wheel fare any better?
The concept behind the game is pretty much the same: spin a wheel for points, and then guess a letter for the hidden phrase. If you guess correctly then those points get added to your score. You can only pick consonants, and the challenge is figuring out the phrase without vowels. You can buy vowels using gems, which you can earn by playing the game or purchasing.
Phrase Wheel immediately suppasses Amazing Wheel, for the simple fact that it is a multiplayer game. You can connect to Facebook to play against your friends, or play against a random opponent. The downside of this is that waiting for your opponent to have their turn is tedious. You can go away and do something else while you wait, but it takes away the whole fun of the game because it lacks any immediacy. For it to work you really need to be playing at the same time. Even when you play against the computer, the AI doesn't have its go immediately, you have to wait.
There are several categories to choose from, such as 2000s Music, TV Shows, Landmarks, etc, and extra features include Achievement awards, and a choice of avatars to represent you. The idea behind the game is great, but it just gets boring waiting.
