Excellent solo and multiplayer game
limited character customization
Just when you think hack and slash has nowhere new to go, a game like Kings Road comes along. For starters, it’s a browser game, or at least it started out that way. It was later released for iOS and Android. Kings Road is free to play and best of all, it does free to play right, with the full game available. Rumble makes money selling additional gems cases and skins.
Kings Road takes all the things players of the genre expect and love, and then brings it to a browser. Esthetically, Kings Road is like a cheerier version of Diablo. Unfortunately, Kings Road only has three classes and no character customization, so every looks pretty much the same outside of their gear choices. Luckily there is so much going on in the game, that the lack of customization doesn’t really take much away from the experience.
Kings Road has three character classes to choose from
In terms of gameplay, it’s the pretty basic click and attack that players are used to. Like other hack and slash titles, characters have a health and a mana pool with special abilities spread across a bottom bar. Levels are short and uncomplicated which makes for a fast-paced action and addictive game play.
Players gather loot and gold, which they can use to create new powerful items at the forge. Gems can also be socketed into items to give them additional bonuses. Like the battle system, the crafting system will feel intuitive and comfortable for hack and slash fans.
Crafting is done at the Forge in Kings Road
Kings Road is a great addition to any tablet, phone or browser gaming library. Mobile gamers who like Kings Road may also want to check out Kabam’s Spirit Storm or Gameloft’s Dungeon Hunter series.
