Best known as Quoits, Hoopla is a more family oriented version of the pub ring toss game. You have an easy fit-together board with pegs, each with its own colour and score, plus five corresponding rings. The aim is to stand at a distance and aim the rings over the pegs to score points. The person with the most points win.
In most cases, points are face value, but you can earn double points for the following:
Ringing the same colour hoop over the same colour peg.
Getting a ringer (ringing multiple hoops over one peg)
Ringing two pegs with one hoop.
It is a very family friendly game that can be enjoyed by all ages. It is a good idea to allow younger children to stand closer to the target to make it fair.
The only downside is that you need good weather, so can't really be played in winter. You also need space; if you're garden isn't big enough, you can always take the game down to the park.
