Review
Heroes of Camelot is a free RPG card collecting game that is available for Android and Apple IOS. Your mission is to defeat the Black Knight, who has invaded the kingdom of Camelot, and the only way to do this to find the Holy Grail.
The quest for the Holy Grail sends you on a journey through five beautifully graphic Arthurian cities. As you go you will encounter many characters, such as sorcerers, bards, footmen, archers, etc. These characters come in the form of playing cards, each of which have their own set of stats and special abilities. By collecting thee cards, you can build up your team of warriors to become stronger, and defeat powerful enemies.
Upon playing the game for the first time, you will be asked which faction you wish to be a part of: Camelot or Druid. You will then be presented with the leader of your pack, and set forth on your journey.
As you explore different landscapes, you will earn coins, mana, and use up stamina points. You will also discover treasure chests concealing character cards.
You'll face several enemies along the way, who you have to battle, but the battle system is rather disappointing. What you might think as the most exciting part of the game is actually the most boring.
There is no interaction in battle mode; you do not choose what attacks to make or get much animation. It is a done automatically. Fortunately you can skip through this part with you like.
Battles are slightly more exciting in the Arena, if only because you are playing against a real person. In most cases, whoever enters the arena with the higher HP is the winner, making the outcome rather predictable. There is strategy involved though, and this where the interesting bit comes you.
As you collect cards, you get up upgrade them, and thus make them more powerful. Upgrades take three forms. The first is Evolve. You can evolve a card by blending two or the same characters together, which combines their score and boosts their level. The second method is Enhance. Here you can take one of your rarer cards, and enhance their abilities, by merging it with some of your more common cards.
The third method is by the way you build your teams. You can unlock up to three teams in your party, and who you put with who can determine the strength, magic, and possible bonus features that team might posses.
If you wish, you may join or create your own guild. Some guilds need invites, while others you make a request and ask for approval. Once in a guild, you can then enter Siege Castle, where you will fight lots of villains to gain rewards for your guild.
Heroes of Camelot is a lot of fun, but although it is free if you don't spend money to buy mana potions (needed for battle), then you will have to stop after about ten minutes game time, and wait a few hours before your magic is restored. This can be quite frustrating, and the only real downside to the game.
