There are dozens of Bubble Shooter games available to play online, on your tablets, or on consoles. The basic gameplay is generally the same, but each has its own individual style.
The style of this version is 'cutesie'. There is a baby cartoon fox at the bottom of the screen that loads you your cannon, cheers when you succeed, and cries when you fail. There are over three hundred levels, which get progressively harder. I began to find the game got challenging by level twenty-five.
The aim is simple: clear all the descending bubbles on the screen before they pass the boundary line. This is done by shooting bubbles out of a cannon. These bubbles are coloured, and you have to match three of the same coloured bubbles for them to pop.
What is handy about this bubble shooter game is that it has a colourblind mode. There are images in the bubbles, so those who are colourblind can tell the bubbles apart.
As well as standard bubbles, there are also special bubbles to aid (or hinder) you in your all important bubble bursting mission.
Once you complete a level, you get given a star rating based on speed and how many shots it took you to clear the board. Part of this is luck of the draw - sometimes you get a succession of colours that don't match anything on screen - but accuracy of aim is also important. Often you need to ricochet bubbles off the wall at just the right angle.
There are two modes of play: Puzzle and Arcade. Puzzle is the easier of the two because the bubbles only descend once per turn. In Arcade mode, however, the bubbles descend continuously until you pop the bunch of grapes that clears the board.
