Can be difficult
Paying money makes you stronger

It’s impossible to talk about this game and not mention its artwork. The artistic design in this game is amazing. Characters are presented as 2D (almost) still images and yet breathe life. They are monstrous, demonic and terrifying, surrounded by a world of harsh landscapes reminiscent of the world of Diablo II.

Alright, enough about the pretty pictures. How does the game play? It plays well. Very well. BB2 is a turn-based JRPG style of game. It works on a rock-paper-scissors mechanic where horse beats arrow, arrow beats sword, sword beats horse. On the campaign map, you strategically place your squad to your advantage. Attacking first is always better than being attacked. The end goal is to take the enemy castle.

Battle screen

Simple mechanisms—not so simple difficulty. The game is challenging. Unless you are a die-hard RPG fan who knows the ins and outs of levelling and grinding and every strategy that maximises your characters’ stats, then this game is not just a casual thing to play when you’re not really paying attention. It does take strategy and commitment. If you are willing to do that, then it is a great game for you.

Battle map

There are many other parts of the game that you may have come to expect from mobile games. Firstly, and obviously, paying real money makes you stronger. Next, the collecting. There seems to be a pattern in mobile games, especially the successful ones, where they want you to collect. It is probably why these games are so addictive, and BB2 is no exception. It is extremely satisfying to collect more characters and build your team. Especially when you have no idea what your next creative and original character might be. Could be an inflated corpse of gas, or perhaps a demonic chimpanzee.

...Or an anthropomorphic horse warrior

There are a few ways to collect. Firstly, you can pay. Secondly you receive a bonus throughout the day. The most satisfying way is to capture the enemies’ lieutenants. Yes, you capture them and turn them against their own leaders. It’s excellent.
PVP battle is a little different from the campaign, and is a good way to gain experience and test your skills. Be sure to level up your commanders first, though. You want to be ready for what lies ahead.

Build your team

BB2 is one of the best mobile games on the market, especially because it is free to download. A remarkable amount of effort went into the production of Blood Brothers 2. It has come a long way since the original and has not disappointed fans.
